Medical Camp at Kimsar Valley
April 5, 2015
This week the medical team comprising of Dr Priya, sevaks Martina (Shakti) Kadek (Bali), yoga student Mandana Debrie (Iran), Poonam and Bibi traveled to Kimsar Valley, a distance of 39 km from Parmarth.
The camp was held at Gram Panchayat building.
90% of the patients who came to the medical camp were elderly, and they all suffered from arthritis – predominantly knee joint pain. Knee caps and pain killer gel were freely given to those needing it.
Those that came were also blessed to have received a healing and massage treatment from Mandana. With her gentle approach and chanting mantra, she very lovingly treated the ladies.
Skin allergies among children, acidity, indigestion and diabetes were common, along with other diseases treated the volunteers treated.
On the way to the village, Dr Priya spotted a local herb that was good for arthritic knees. The herb is called Nirgundi, and the locals call it Singol. A few samples were collected and those ladies with afflicted knees were told how to use the herb to help themselves.
Poonam and Bibi took the opportunity also to conduct handwashing and hygiene demonstrations to a small group of children.
