Free Medical Care At Mala In Pauri Garhwal

October 17, 2016

The Divine Shakti Foundation’s Free Medical Care team travelled 1.5 hours into the Shivalic Mountains to serve 50 villagers of Mala in Pauri Garhwal. One small boy, who’d been collecting water at a communal tap, nimbly helped the team carry some of their supplies. A local family received them warmly and the team agreed to set up the medical camp in their yard. The camp provided treatment for knee, joint and muscular pain, common colds and fevers, indigestion, acidity, eye infections, eczema, diarrhea and vomiting, high blood pressure and headaches.

As well as traditional medication, pranayama practice was given along with posture correction using a mixture of teacher modelling and a hands-on approach by yoga teacher, Miranda. Trainee medical student, Reshma, provided eucalyptus massages for elderly patients with coughs or back and chest pains.

Divine Shakti Foundation shares its deep gratitude for its team of sevaks (volunteers) Miranda (UK), Reshma, Jesse & Courtney (students from Knox College, USA), Jyoti, coordinated by Dr Priya Singh, both from Parmarth Niketan (Rishikesh), for serving selflessly in this camp.
