Medical Camp at Ramjiwala, Yamkeshwar
May 18, 2017
The Divine Shakti Foundation’s Free Medical Care Camp visited Ramjiwala, Yamkeshwar, 41km from Rishikesh. This is an isolated hilly-forest area without any hospital or medical facilities nearby.
The population is 415, with over 65 patients treated during our camp. A variety of conditions were treated such as high blood pressure, diabetes, lower back pain, skin allergy, eye & ear diseases, joint pain, acidity and constipation, urinary infections, common cold and fever, asthma & leucorrhoea, hypertension, headaches and chest pain.
The children were mainly treated for viral illnesses or poor appetite, as well as a clear need for dental care amongst the entire population. The team helped educate the patients on this issue, as well as informing them of the free dental care given daily at the The Swami Shukdevand Charitable Hospital on the premises of Parmarth Niketan ashram.
The sevaks (volunteers) helped demonstrate yoga postures and pranayama to assist patients with lower back pain, high blood pressure and asthma; and a naturopathic student amongst them gave massages to the elderly to assist with joint and muscle pain.
The Divine Shakti Foundation (DSF) shares its deep gratitude for its team of sevaks, Genevieve & Dr Gina both from California (US), Diana from Russia, Irina & Alisha from Ukraine, Edward from South Korea and Jyoti Sharma and Medical Camp Co-ordinator and Lead Dr Priya Singh, from Parmarth Niketan for serving selflessly in this camp. The weekly camps are conceived and inspired by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji, Founder of DSF, President of Parmarth Niketan, and are continuously supported by the dedicated leadership of Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, president of DSF.
