Medical Camp at Veerpur, Dunda Tehsil
May 25, 2017
The Divine Shakti Foundation’s Free Medical Care Camp visited the most peaceful location of Veerpur, Dunda Tehsil, 11km from Parmarth Niketan at Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji’s own ashram retreat location.
120 patients were treated during our camp and the sevak (volunteers) worked together beautifully covering registration, Yoga, Ayurvedic treatments, educational sessions for the children & photography.
Of the 120 patients, 66 adults came with routine problems such as hypertension, shoulder and muscle pain, and many with gastrointestinal complaints. 54 children aged 2 months to 19 years, were seen with common viral illnesses, ENT problems, skin rashes and GI complaints.
Inquiries were made regarding administration of de-worming medication. It appeared that 21 children attending private schools had not been able to access the government de-worming project, so they were given a dose of medicine to be taken at home. Every child was accompanied by a parent, and instructions were given for their care along with medications handed directly to the parent.
A very kind volunteer from last week’s medical camp had donated money for items that are most helpful: toothbrushes, toothpaste and nail clippers. Dental care sessions were led by Elise, who taught the children how to brush correctly and the importance of regular brushing and both Elise & Vishal gave handwashing sessions to the children.
Laura & Kim helped demonstrate yoga postures and pranayama to assist patients with hypertension and muscle pain; and Laura also gave Ayurvedic treatment and advice.
As we wrapped up the day and headed back to Parmarth Niketan, we stopped at Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji’s beloved Gowshala nearby for a visit. It was a most blessed day and it was as if we were enveloped in His arms of love as we humbly carried out our duties.
The Divine Shakti Foundation (DSF) shares its deep gratitude for its team of sevaks, Dr Gina from California (US), Vinodbhai & Elise from London & Kim from Birmingham (UK), Elke from Germany, Bibi Ma from Singapore and Vishal Bhatt and Medical Camp Co-ordinator and Lead Dr Priya Singh, from Parmarth Niketan for serving selflessly in this camp. We also had the pleasure of the divine Laura Plumb, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga Teacher & co-founder of Deep Yoga also serving with us. The weekly camps are conceived and inspired by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji, Founder of DSF, President of Parmarth Niketan, and are continuously supported by the dedicated leadership of Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, president of DSF.
