EMPOWERED WOMEN MAKES A STRONG NATION

Two-day ‘SHG-Capacity Enhancement Training’ program held in Vocational Centers of Divine Shakti Foundation

Effort resulted in the Formation of five Self Help Groups (SHGs)

Rishikesh, 11th April 2021: A two-day training program each for the students of Parmarth Naari Sashakti Kendra (April 6th & 7th) and Women Vocational Centre Dehradun Road (April 8th & 10th) was organized under the aegis of Divine Shakti Foundation at Parmarth Niketan. In this training program, five Self Help Groups were formed and five more are in the process of completion. Through this endeavour, more women are being contacted by the volunteers of Parmarth Niketan to impart detailed information about the Self Help Groups concept. The major aim of this training program is to make women self-reliant by linking them to banks for self-employment schemes.

On this occasion, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, in expressing his views on women empowerment, insisted on the importance of empowering women financially. He further added that SHG is an excellent effort to enhance women’s access to financial resources along with skills development of our daughters and women through such self-sufficiency training programs.

Especially during the Covid-19 epidemic, it is necessary to not only bring awareness to women about gender equality, but also of the existence of the financial system and employment opportunities available so that they can independently meet the economic challenges in life.

Pujya Swami ji also spoke on the importance of inclusion of women in financial matters to achieve the sustainable development goal and strengthen the economy of India. He said that through these Vocational Training Centers, our principal effort is to financially empower the sisters, daughters and mothers of the slum settlements of Rishikesh by connecting them with women-centric schemes to LEARN and EARN.

Women are generally affected more than men due to loss of income and loss of jobs during the Corona epidemic, so master trainers Monica Mittal ji and Neelam ji imparted training to enhance their skills and ability to become self-reliant and play their role in self- and in the nation’s development.

During the training Mr A C Bijlwan, Manager Uttarakhand Gramin Bank and Mr Himanshu Upadhyay (Insurance) explained the Bank schemes and formalities in a very simple way to all the women and answered all their queries.

Ms. Ganga Nandini Tripathi, Director Program Coordination and Implementation (GIWA), Monica Mittal ji, Master Trainer (NULM), Neelam Rao (SHG trainer) and the GIWA team contributed significantly in the training program.
