It’s Possible To End Poverty Serving Mayakund Slum Children
October 18, 2016
Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji graced and inspired hundreds of children at the Mayakund slum during a free health and hygiene camp, where children were given health examinations, received Vitamin A and albendazole. She emphasized that vaccinations and sanitation must go hand in hand.
Sadhvi Bhagawatiji shared, “Health does not only come from these pills or drops. Health comes from how you live, every day. The way we treat each other and our nearby environment is all ways to measure our health.” She encouraged GIWA and DSF volunteers to continue once a month camps to follow-up on the pledge taken and help ensure that basic facilities and necessities were available to the children living in the slum. She shared that she looked forward to holding the camp again next year and encouraging even more children to come.
